GREENHILLS MUSIC STUDIO a privately-owned music school, was established in 1968.
GMS' curriculum requirements contribute to the artistic and creative development of the student. Its goals are...
To develop the young in achieving their fullest potential
To promote and maintain musical excellence in the student
whatever instrument he or she may choose
To prepare the student for music as a lifetime career or as a hobby
ENROLLMENT
Through the years, GMS has opened its facilities to accommodate various age groups- from as young as age three to age sixty - who want to learn music for their own personal enjoyment, improvement, and satisfaction. Individual and group lessons are held weekly, while masterclasses with visiting artists are held occasionally.
GMS also gives unique opportunities to all its students to perform as often as possible:
- Studio recitals are held every month in all instruments and at all levels
- Grand recitals for all students are held twice a year at concert halls
- Advanced students in piano and violin are required to give solo recitals before reaching the collegiate level
- Graduation exams are taken by all students upon mastery of every book level
GMS is the pioneer and accredited school of the Suzuki Music method in the Philippines
GMS offers apprenticeships for pedagogy students and acts as a preparatory school to conservatories and colleges of music in the Philippines and abroad
PERFORMING GROUPS
Two performing groups in GMS which are available to student participation are the
GMS STRING ENSEMBLE
and
GMS KEYBOARD ENSEMBLE
Members of these ensembles are exposed to varied styles of music literature and their ability to think, feel, and perform as a group are enhanced.
The ensembles also serve as laboratory for arrangements and compositions of its directors and members.
The GMS String Ensemble and the GMS Keyboard Ensemble aim to bring classical music to the masses. To this end they have given concerts all over the country, both professionally and for charity, at shopping malls, churches, and concert halls.
